E.ON, a leading European energy company, transformed its customer experience using the Cloud Adoption Framework, which improved the efficiency and security of its IT infrastructure.
E.ON is one of the largest energy companies, serving more than 47 million customers. Founded in Germany in 2000, it has over 69,000 employees and operates in more than 30 countries. It focuses on the production and distribution of electricity and natural gas, as well as the provision of services.
E.ON faced several challenges related to the effective management of its IT infrastructure and ensuring data security across various geographic regions. Its existing IT infrastructure was fragmented and difficult to manage, which led to issues with service consistency and reliability. Furthermore, with growing data volumes and increasing security requirements, it was necessary to ensure that their systems could withstand cyber threats while also complying with regulatory requirements. E.ON needed a solution that would enable them to centralize and optimize their IT operations, improve data security, and increase the efficiency of their IT processes.
We implemented the Cloud Adoption Framework, which included several key steps:
Migration of Key Systems to the Cloud: We migrated E.ON’s critical applications and data to Microsoft Azure, enabling centralized management and improved scalability of its IT infrastructure.
Implementation of Centralized IT Management: We implemented management and monitoring tools that enabled the company to effectively manage and monitor its IT operations from a single, centralized location. This included the implementation of Azure Governance to ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards.
Ensuring a high level of data security: We implemented Azure Security Center, which provides advanced security features and enables us to monitor and respond to security threats in real time. This included implementing data encryption, multi-factor authentication, and other security measures.
IT Process Optimization: We helped E.ON optimize its IT processes and improve the efficiency of its operations through automation and the implementation of best practices in IT management.
Microsoft Azure: A cloud platform that provides a wide range of services for computing, storage, databases, analytics, networking, and more.
Azure Governance: Tools and services for managing and monitoring cloud environments to ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards.
Azure Security Center: A security solution that provides advanced features for monitoring and protecting cloud environments from security threats.
The implementation of KPCS’s Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) enabled E.ON to improve the efficiency of its IT operations, enhance data security, and reduce costs. Centralizing the IT infrastructure led to better system management and service consistency. The introduction of advanced security measures has significantly enhanced the protection of sensitive information. The automation and optimization of IT processes have contributed to lower energy consumption and a reduced carbon footprint, supporting E.ON’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040. Overall, the implementation of CAF has delivered not only technological but also business benefits, enabling the company to better respond to its customers’ needs and enhance its competitiveness in the market.
The reliability, security, and operational flexibility of the entire environment as a compact whole are the greatest benefits of this solution. At the same time, KPCS provides us with comprehensive Azure environment services as part of the Microsoft program. Thanks to their expertise and experience, we have been able to navigate the complexities of this platform and achieve flexibility in the use of our financial resources.
